Why Choose this Coffee?

Pink Bourbon is the perfect choice for those who love to explore exotic coffees and complex flavour profiles. This unique coffee, with its tea-like qualities, offers a rare combination of fruity and floral notes that will captivate even the most adventurous coffee drinkers. Its special processing method sets it apart from the competition, delivering a bright acidity and silky body that wows customers looking for something extraordinary.

Because of its exquisite flavour and careful production, Pink Bourbon is seen as a treat—ideal for specialty coffee experts or as a high-end gift. Its relatively higher price reflects its premium quality, making it a standout offering for those who truly appreciate the art of coffee. Whether as a special indulgence or a thoughtful gift, Pink Bourbon promises a memorable experience that leaves a lasting impression.

Psst… Did you know that the cherry of Pink Bourbon is actually pink? The coffee gets its name from the beautiful light pink hue the cherry takes on when it’s fully ripe!

Special Farming Practices

Pink Bourbon is a highly specialized coffee variety that demands exceptional care and attention throughout its cultivation. As a hybrid between Red and Yellow Bourbon, it requires specific growing conditions and thrives best at high altitudes of over 1,800 meters, enhancing the coffee’s complexity.

However, Pink Bourbon’s delicate nature presents challenges—it needs more space, yields are low, and the variety is particularly prone to pests.

At the Los Cedros Farm, a dedicated field is set aside specifically for this exotic varietal, ensuring it receives the focused care it needs. Hand-picking ensures only the ripest cherries with the ideal pink hue are selected, preserving consistency and quality. To facilitate the process of carrying the cherries from the steep elevations to the central collection point for processing, an efficient  “funnel” system is used. The coffee undergoes a 72-hours fermentation process: 48 hours in oxidation and 24 hours in mucilage.

Through these farming practices, combined with innovative fermentation techniques, Pink Bourbon produces a silky, complex cup that showcases the expertise and craftsmanship of Finca Los Cedros.

Why Support the Farmer

At Finca Los Cedros, Builes family pursues their passion by cultivating coffees, such as the exotic Pink Bourbon. Leading this initiative is Juan David Builes, a young Agricultural Engineering student who blends modern techniques with a deep respect for tradition to innovate on the farm.

Next to him stands Don Moncho, Juan David’s trusted right hand, who with eye to detail, ensures Pink Bourbon receives the special care it requires. He oversees the harvest, selecting only the ripest cherries with the ideal pink hue, while also ensuring fair payment for the collectors.

Complementing this process is Octavio, the farm’s Q-grader, whose expertise guarantees exceptional flavour in every cup.

Together, they craft coffees that reflect dedication, precision, and a relentless commitment to quality for you and your customers to enjoy.
