REGIONAL + PRODUCER INFORMATION
The farm was established in 1876 and started producing coffee in 1940. Agua Tibia farm has many water springs that are currently feeding the 25% of the drinking water delivered to Guatemala city. They engage in many responsible farm practices, such as intentionally focusing on reducing the applications of agrochemicals as well as synthetic fertilizers, and shade trees of legume species (Inga) capable of capturing Nitrogen from the atmosphere to fix it into the soil. The soil conservation is also a priority, using live barriers and planting the coffee in contours to retain the nutrients and avoid the erosion of the soil resources.
